Imagine: You're expecting house guests for the weekend. The really great couple you and your spouse met skiing in Colorado a few months ago has taken you up on your invitation for a weekend visit. Funny, energetic, and with similar interests, you knew you had the dynamics for a great friendship. Their room is ready- you cleaned the house - and have a tasty menu prepared. The moment arrives. The doorbell rings. You open the door, cordially hug and greet them, escorting them across your threshold into your welcoming home.
Then, you promptly turn your back on them, standing luggage in hand just inside your door, and busy yourself with other matters, leaving them to find their way around the house. In a daze, they wander around, discussing between themselves just where the bath towels might be hidden, which bedroom might be theirs, when they might eat, and if it might be OK to fix themselves something to drink.
